Forage sorghum and sorghum-sudangrass are a big deal in the Plains from North Dakota to Texas. These forages are well adapted to the hot and/or usually arid conditions of that region. This summer has been an especially good year for forage sorghum and sorghum-sudan in the Southern Plains because of the consistent rains since early May. Jon Douglas, CHS location manager in Bovina, Texas, reports that the new CHS branded products are performing well. He recently submitted a photo of SiloSorghum BMR MS (brown mid-rib, male-sterile forage sorghum) that germinated within four days. The grower was very happy with the performance of the product thus far, and the below photo shows a good-looking field.
